Payment-Protected Buying

How Buying Works

Buy surplus materials at a fraction of retail — with your money held safely until you've seen the goods.

Six Steps, Zero Guesswork

1. Search Nearby

Filter by trade, grade, brand, and distance from your ZIP. Everything from full pallets to partial lots.

2. Make an Offer or Buy

Buy outright at the listed price, negotiate if the seller is open to offers, or propose a swap.

3. Your Money Is Held Safely

Stripe holds your payment before you ever leave the yard. The seller can't touch it yet.

4. Pick Up or Ship

Pick it up, have the seller deliver locally, or arrange shipping directly with the seller — the deal sheet locks the arrangement, and the payment protection rules match it.

5. Inspect & Release

Confirm the material matches the listing, then release the funds. If something's off, file a dispute instead.

6. Review the Seller

Rate accuracy, communication, and pickup so the next buyer knows what to expect.

The Seller Never Holds Your Money First

Every cash payment is held by Stripe. Funds release only after you confirm the material matches — and disputes get a fair review.

Buyer Safety

Avoiding Scams

Escrow protects your money — the rest is on you. Four things every buyer should know before handing over a dollar.

Off-platform payment tricks

If a seller asks you to pay by Zelle, Venmo, CashApp, wire, crypto, or to meet up and pay cash outside the platform, walk away — those payments have no escrow and no recourse. SiteUnload checkout is the only way your money is protected, and messages containing payment handles are filtered automatically.

Too-good-to-be-true pricing

A pallet of material at 90% off retail is usually bait. Compare the asking price against recent completed sales in the category, ask why it's being sold, and inspect the materials in person before you pay. Listings priced far below comparable sales carry a caution flag.

Fake escrow claims

SiteUnload escrow only exists on this platform — funds are held by Stripe and released with verification tokens at pickup. No one from SiteUnload will ever email you a payment link or ask for card details over chat.

Safe pickup practices

Meet in daylight, bring a colleague, prefer commercial locations over home addresses, and share the exact address only after escrow is funded. Inspect the materials before releasing escrow — if something feels wrong, file a dispute instead of releasing funds.

See something suspicious? Use the Report button on the listing or contact SiteUnload support.
